World Heart Day 2009 Celebrations at Norvic International Hospital

Norvic International Hospital had organized a special function to mark the “World Heart Day – 2009”.

The World Heart Day is celebrated worldwide on call of “World Heart Federation (WHF)”, to help people better understand and create awareness on cardiovascular diseases including hypertension. Heart diseases are increasing globally because of high consumption of tobacco, alcohol, high blood pressure (hypertension), high cholesterol, obesity, physical inactivity, stress, diabetes etc.

The last Sunday of every September is observed as World Heart Day. The theme of the World Heart Day 2009 was “Work with Heart”, that emphasized better work place for working peoples’ Cardiac health.

Norvic’s “World Heart Day” programme that day, was initiated with the welcome speech of the Hospital Director.

More than 100 cardiac patients who had undergone Angioplasty or bypass surgery last year were felicitated on the occasion.

Dr. Bharat Rawat, Consultant Cardiologist and Executive Director of Norvic informed that Norvic has carried out over 4500 angiographies and angioplasties till date.

Dr. Bhagawan Koirala, one of the senior cardiac surgeons shed light on the progress of cardiac treatment facilities in Nepal.

The Chief Guest of the programme, Hon. Minister for Health & population, Mr. Umakant Chaudhary lauded the efforts of Norvic and thanked the Hospital for organizing such programme for the benefit of public.

On the occasion, former minister, Mr. Ramesh Nath Pandey shared his personal experiences of cardiac care while he was admitted at Norvic.

Delivering his concluding remarks, Chairman of Norvic, Mr. Basant K Chaudhary thanked all concerned in making the programme a record success. The Chairman also informed about the expansion plan of Norvic.
