Hair loss

Hair loss can be defined as the partial or complete loss of hair. It generally develops gradually and may be patchy or all over. Both men and women tend to lose their hair thickness and amount as they age.

Signs and Symptoms

The most common signs of hair loss are:

  • Gradual thinning on top of head
  • Circular or patchy bald spots
  • Sudden loss of hair
  • Fully-body hair loss

Causes

There could be many reasons behind hair loss including:

  • Hormonal changes
  • Aging
  • Stress
  • Skin infection
  • Anemia
  • Burns
  • Thyroid

Treatment

For some types of hair loss, hair may resume growth without any treatment. In other conditions, treatment may be needed to resume hair growth or slowdown hair loss.

  • Keep the skin clean
  • Do not reuse contaminated items
  • Wash non-disposable items in boiling water or disinfect them before using them again
